Watch as jc demonstrates how to properly connect four 6 volt rv ba.
Wiring diagram for 4 6 volt rv batteries.
The most observant among you might notice that rv appliances and plumbing are all powered via 12 volt dc.
The good news is you can combine series and parallel wiring with 6 volt batteries so you can combine 4 or more and keep the voltage at 12 for your rv but increase the amp hours.
At the basic level two 6 volt batteries are wired in series and two or more 12 volt batteries are wired in parallel in order to produce 12 volts final output.
If you use solar power or have a large motorhome you may need a more powerful rv battery.
I also have and want to use a 45 watt and poss buying more solar.
With the positive from one battery connected to the negative of the other battery you have in essence created one 12 volt battery out of two 6 volt batteries.
Wiring batteries in series parallel combination.
I ll go through each of these wiring methods below.
Here we have two 6 volt batteries wired in series.
Take a look at the diagram above.
If you wire two 200ah 6 volt batteries together in series you end up with 12 volts but the amp hours remain 200.
Two 6 volt batteries above and two 12 volt batteries left.
Front storage bay old battery setup and wiring as an rv battery bank upgrade i m removing the 2 old six volt trojans and single 12 volt battery and simplifying things into one 4 battery bank.
Before adding the extra solar i ve decided to first upgrade the battery bank with 4 fresh six volt batteries with a total capacity of 464 ah.
Rvs have house batteries so dc is the most accessible source of power for an rv.
In our illustration we show four 4 6v batteries with 225ah wired together.
The essential devices pull from those batteries.
As i stated before when you wire batteries in series the voltage increases and the amperage stays.
In a series parallel combo configuration the batteries are wired per the diagram below and the result would be a doubling of the voltage and doubling of the capacity.
