Hardwood floors meanwhile don t retain dirt grime dander and other nasties the way most carpets do and can be easily mopped or swept to keep them clean. Nothing gross about it. This would require replacement wood floors or replacement carpet. It was believed to be healthier as rugs unlike tacked down carpets could be taken out and beaten. I put rugs down over the carpet too though to give the room separation.

Carpet is really good at trapping schmutz in the nap.
